illustration friday: INSTINCT

Watercolour on card.

I completed Job's birthday card just before I saw this weeks topic for Illustration Friday. The card depicts the 'Great Salmon Migration' this weeks subject on the BBC's 'Nature's Great Events' series.

illustration friday: FLAWED

Watercolour on paper.

Was thinking along the lines of birds that can't fly and then I remembered the girls at the school who can't join in with all the games because of their flawed footwear.

illustration friday: CLIMBING

Happy Year of the Ox!
I'm really struggling to get a good photo of this drawing - hopefully the light will be better tomorrow. Colour pencils on paper (sky added in photoshop).

illustration friday: CONTAINED

Mixed media collage. Colouring pencils and Oil Pastels on Paper with Newspaper papercut on a background of very old wall paper.

This topic reminded me of a drawing I did when I was a little girl after a trip to the zoo. My mother wasn't very impressed when I added the finishing touches to my picture - the bars of a cage! I now understand what she was getting at hence the layered approach to this illustration.

I feel a bit like a parrot stuck in a cage in my current lodgings...
